Designing authority. Commanding the room before a word is spoken.
Meridian Law LLP handles M&A transactions, international arbitration, and high-stakes litigation for India's largest corporations. Their existing Lower Parel offices — leased fifteen years prior and lightly refreshed twice — no longer communicated the firm's standing. Senior partners had begun losing pitches to newer, better-presented competitors. The managing partner was direct in the brief: the office needed to feel like the firm deserved to be in the room at every major deal in India.
The constraint was acuity of detail. Law clients are precise, analytical, and notice everything. The space needed to communicate gravitas without ostentation, craftsmanship without excess. Every material choice, every proportion, every finish had to be deliberate. And it all needed to be ready in 10 weeks — ahead of a major international client conference that had been booked eight months in advance.
"Within a week of moving in, we hosted a ₹4,200 Cr cross-border acquisition closing in the new boardroom. The clients commented on the space before we even began. That has never happened before. Vektor Space understood that in law, the environment is part of the argument."
Material language that communicates authority at every touchpoint.
Client Journey Mapping
We began by mapping the physical journey of a high-value client from lobby arrival to boardroom to signing room — identifying every touchpoint where the environment either reinforces or undermines confidence. The reception desk, corridor transitions, meeting room entry sequences, and even the restroom finishes were designed as a continuous, deliberate narrative. Nothing was left to default specification.
Material Palette: Restraint as Luxury
The palette was deliberately narrow: smoked oak millwork, honed Sahara Noir marble, aged brass hardware, and deep charcoal fabric wall panels. No more than four primary materials across the entire floor. Custom joinery was executed by a specialist Rajasthan workshop with 3mm tolerance requirements. The restraint — knowing what not to include — is what elevates the result from interior design to architecture.
Acoustic Engineering for Confidentiality
Legal conversations are confidential by definition. We engaged specialist acoustic engineers to design every meeting room and partner office with STC 55+ rated partitions, acoustic ceiling rafts, and white noise masking systems in corridors. The result: conversations in adjacent rooms are completely inaudible — a non-negotiable for privilege-sensitive discussions.
The Signing Room
A dedicated 800 sq ft signing room — rare in Indian law offices — was designed as the emotional peak of the client experience. A 4-metre solid oak table, bespoke lighting that softens automatically during signing, and a concealed AV system for remote witness attestation. The room has been used in fourteen major closings since opening, and three clients have specifically cited the room in their briefings recommending the firm to peers.
