Point-of-Work Technology
Point-of-work technology refers to the power and data connectivity provided at every work setting in an office — whether a desk, a collaboration table, a lounge chair, or a phone booth. It includes mains power sockets, USB-A/C charging points, HDMI or USB-C screen connections, and increasingly wireless charging surfaces integrated into desk furniture.
In an Activity-Based Working environment, point-of-work tech must follow the worker rather than being confined to fixed desks. Every setting — including soft seating and standing benches — should have power access. On-floor data connectivity via raised floor boxes or pop-up sockets must be planned alongside the space plan; retrofitting power to a lounge area after floor finishes are down is expensive and visually disruptive.
