Sit-Stand Desk
A sit-stand desk (or height-adjustable desk) is a workstation whose surface can be raised or lowered to allow users to alternate between sitting and standing positions throughout the working day. The transition is typically motor-driven (electric single or dual column) with programmable memory presets.
Prolonged sitting is associated with cardiovascular disease, back pain, and reduced energy levels; alternating postures has demonstrated health benefits in occupational health research. In Indian GCC and technology offices, sit-stand desks are increasingly standard on workstation briefs from global parent companies. Key specification considerations include: weight capacity (ensure it handles dual monitors and a docking station), motor noise level (<50 dB), and stability at maximum height. In a 500-seat Hinjewadi GCC fit-out, standardising on electric sit-stand desks adds approximately ₹6,000–₹10,000 per station over a fixed-height desk.
