WELL Building Standard
The WELL Building Standard is an evidence-based performance framework administered by the International WELL Building Institute (IWBI) that measures, certifies, and monitors built environment features that affect human health and wellbeing. It is organised across ten concepts: Air, Water, Nourishment, Light, Movement, Thermal Comfort, Sound, Materials, Mind, and Community.
In Indian office projects, WELL v2 certification is increasingly pursued alongside LEED Gold by GCC clients — particularly those in financial services, technology, and consulting with global parent companies that have workplace wellbeing commitments. WELL requires real measurement: continuous CO₂ monitoring, light meter surveys, post-occupancy acoustics testing, and staff satisfaction surveys. WELL Silver in Pune's Kharadi district might include PM2.5 sensors in every zone, MERV 13 filtration in the FAU, and acoustic panels achieving STC 45 on all meeting rooms.
