T-Grid Ceiling

A T-grid (or T-bar) ceiling is a suspended ceiling system where a grid of inverted-T shaped metal runners hangs from the structural slab on wire hangers, and acoustic or mineral fibre tiles rest in the grid openings. It is the most common office ceiling system globally and is standard in Indian Grade A commercial buildings, typically in a 600×600 mm or 600×1200 mm module.

The T-grid system's value is its demountability: individual tiles can be lifted to access the ceiling void for MEP maintenance, cabling reroutes, or future partition changes without disturbing adjacent tiles. Tile specifications vary significantly in acoustic performance (NRC 0.55–0.90), light reflectance, and fire rating. In a premium fit-out, the T-grid may be supplemented with feature ceilings — plasterboard bulkheads, timber baffles, acoustic clouds — while the background grid provides maintenance access.
